Associate, Northeast Asia

McLarty Associates is seeking a bright, resourceful, highly organized individual to serve as a full-time associate to support the firm’s Northeast Asia and trade practices. We are looking to fill this position immediately.

Responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to:

  1. Providing administrative support for Northeast Asia practice directors (coordinating and maintaining schedules, event planning, making phone calls, taking notes, etc.);
  2. Writing long- and short-form memos for clients, compiling biographies, and preparing presentations;
  3. Conducting extensive research and analysis of economic, political, security, trade, technology, public policy, international, and business issues;
  4. Monitoring news outlets and policy developments throughout the region;
  5. Assisting with business development efforts, including prospecting and proposal writing;
  6. Attending and reporting on speeches, panel discussions, and policy forums of interest to the firm and clients; and
  7. Other duties as assigned.

  9. Proficient with PowerPoint, Excel, Office 365, and other business applications.

Ideal candidates will also possess a strong understanding of economic, cultural, business, and political dynamics in Northeast Asia (Korea/Japan). Additional experience with and understanding of trade policy viewed as a plus. Applicants should have a robust background, demonstrated interest, and/or experience living or studying in Northeast Asia. Working proficiency (reading, writing, and speaking) in Korean is strongly preferred. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US.
