Director/ Senior Director, India & South Asia Practice

McLarty Associates isseeking an enterprising and collegial professional at the senior or mid-career level to join our India and South Asia team, headquartered in Washington with offices in Delhi.

Responsibilities of the position include:

  • Business Development: The incumbent will have a strong understanding of the U.S.-India commercial environment and other South Asia markets. Leading applicants will have strong existing networks in the private sector related to India and South Asia.
  • Client Service: Support clients with issues and opportunities related to India and South Asia. This includes direct engagement with policymakers on behalf of clients.
  • Candidates should demonstrate interest in and willingness to support the firm’s client service and business development globally, as well as on other nodes of India/South Asia relations (e.g. EU-India, India-China).

Ideal candidates for this position will bring deep knowledge and networks to the position. Knowledge of Hindi and/ or other regional languages is preferred. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US.  This position will be based in our Washington headquarters.

We are seeking individuals who:

  • Have at least 10 years’ experience working on India and South Asia policy issues, through experience in government, think tanks, industry associations, private sector;
  • Understand the policy issues that are important to businesses wanting to grow or maintain their commercial ties with India and South Asia;
  • Anticipate the needs of clients and practice team;
  • Are prepared to travel to India two or three times per year, often with executives from client firms, and play the primary role in setting up successful visits;
  • Are able to operate in a fast-paced work environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism, judgment, and confidentiality.
