This position supports McLarty Associates’ Europe practice and McLarty Inbound, which assists foreign businesses with analysis, strategy, and advocacy efforts in Washington and the United States more broadly. We are seeking a bright, resourceful individual for an entry-level, paid internship/graduate fellowship. We are seeking an individual who can work part-time (25 hours/week) starting early to mid-June until late September/early October. This position is based in Washington, DC and interns/graduate fellows will be expected to work in person at least three days a week.
As an intern/graduate fellow, you will work on a variety of projects with different engagement teams. The program aims to give you exposure to the breadth of our services and client work. You will work closely with our professionals—Associate through Director—and gain first-hand experience in consulting. Your assignments may involve work in news tracking, political analysis, memo writing, and/or note-taking at client meetings.
Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
- monitoring news outlets for relevant developments across the EU and Europe, as well as federal-level developments in the United States;
- conducting research and analysis of economic, political, trade, technology, and business issues impacting clients’ interests in Europe and the United States;
- assisting firm-wide communications and regular deliverables such as newsletters and policy trackers;
- attending and reporting on speeches, panel discussions, and policy forums of interest to the firm and clients;
- compiling biographies, preparing presentations and other client deliverables;
- maintaining team-specific and firm-wide databases;
- assisting professional staff with general office and administrative support;
- other duties as assigned.
Ideal candidates for this position possess a broad understanding of international politics, economics, and trade. Familiarity with technology and energy policy is a plus. Applicants should have a robust background, demonstrated interest, and/or experience living or studying in Europe, as well as broad familiarity with European Union institutions and policies. Proficiency in one or more European languages is preferred but not required. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US.

- graduates of a BA or MA program in International Relations, Political Science, European Studies, or related field;
- organized and able to work independently with minimal supervision;
- inclined to take initiative and anticipate the needs of the team;

- able to multi-task and complete tasks in a timely manner;
- able to manage and adapt to changing priorities, to remain poised under pressure, and to juggle multiple projects at a time;
- able to operate in a fast-paced work environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism, mature judgment, and confidentiality;
- skilled communicators;
- strong critical thinkers;
- strong researchers and writers able to quickly deliver concise and accurate copy with minimal mistakes;
- proficient with PowerPoint, Excel, Office 365, Adobe Acrobat, and other business applications and media platforms.

The hourly salary for this position ranges from $18 to $20, depending on the candidate's education and qualifications.
