Description

McLarty Associates is seeking a bright, resourceful, highly organized individual to serve as an intern/graduate fellow for the firm’s Southeast Asia practice. We are looking for an individual who can work 25 hours per week from January-May 2025. This position can be performed either in person at the Washington, DC office or remotely.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitoring regional news outlets;
  • Conducting research and analysis of economic, political, security, trade, technology, public policy, international, and business issues in Southeast Asian markets;
  • Writing memos, compiling biographies, preparing presentations;
  • Attending and reporting on events, speeches, panel discussions, and policy forums of interest to the firm and clients;
  • Assisting professional staff with general office and administrative support;
  • Other duties as assigned.

We are seeking candidates who:

  • Are pursuing (or recently completed) an undergraduate or master’s degree in international relations, political science, international business, Asian / Southeast Asian studies, or a related field;
  • Possess a strong background, demonstrated interest, and experience living or studying in Southeast Asia;
  • Fluency in a Southeast Asian language (preferred, but not required);
  • Able to operate in a fast-paced work environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism, mature judgment, and confidentiality;
  • Legally authorized to work in the US.
